What Makes Us Different
At Cook & Company, we focus exclusively on working with nonprofit organizations. We provide friendly, exceptional service at reasonable rates.
We understand that many small and medium-sized nonprofit organizations do not always have professional accountants on staff, and we take pride in our ability to work effectively with managers, staff and board members with varying levels of financial expertise. In addition, we have a penchant for explaining technical accounting and tax concepts in “plain English”. We also make useful suggestions throughout our engagements, thereby helping clients enhance the effectiveness and/or efficiency of their activities.
We follow a rigorous system of quality control standards, which is required by membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and subject to a periodic peer review. We also stay current on the latest accounting, audit, and tax pronouncements through extensive continuing education activities. This allows us to provide clients with the most current and relevant expertise.
Sustainable Accounting & Use of Technology
We are proud to be one of the few Green Certified CPA firms under the California Green Business Program. Since opening our doors a few years ago, we have adopted various cutting edge technologies to enhance our services and reduce our carbon footprint. We have migrated from traditional paper-based auditing to a computer-based audit management system. To safeguard our client data, our file server is hosted within an SSAE16-compliant data center in California. In addition, we use the Internet and email to exchange correspondence with clients and vendors whenever possible. We have a secure online portal for our clients and encourage them to submit materials to us electronically in order to conserve paper and reduce greenhouse gasses associated with traditional shipping and mailing methods. For us, being green is socially responsible and makes good business sense, too. The money we save by following environmentally friendly practices allows us to offer our nonprofit clients exceptional service at reasonable rates.
